Trust needs to be rebuilt throughout your relationship.
There are legitimate barriers to repair that need to be addressed if you really hope to get the sex life you (and your partner) want!
The lack of trust is rather disturbing. Especially if you know your partner isn’t happy, right?
Having a partner who is not open to repair makes you feel like you’re being rejected. Especially if you know that your partner is pretending to have desire or avoiding sex as a result of infidelity.
And it can be confusing following infidelity. How can you love each other and be so good together, and yet have difficulty repairing this moment of betrayal?
Which of these points concern you?
If this is your case, I’m here for you! And if you’re like most couples I work with, you want the relationship to be fun and easy…
… and Not to have the impression of simply enduring and tolerating the relationship in its current state.
Whether you’re young and completely in love, you’ve been together for a while with a foundation that was solid, OR you’ve spent a lifetime together full of love and respect… The reparation of this betrayal will not be made without effort on the part of everyone.
Think about it! This situation is probably one of the elements that will define your relationship for a long time. It is possible to accept the trauma, repair the betrayal, and reconcile the relationship. However, this process does not mean that we excuse or justify the acts, but that we recognize its impact. That we take the next step for ourselves, for our couple and move towards a better being.
Has it worked so far? If you’re like most couples who come to therapy with me, it’s most likely a “no.”
But that’s completely normal! Because you focused on the wrong thing!
If you change the mind-set from ” we only approach it when the situation arises ” to ” we take constructive and chosen moments to address it”, it allows you to have…
The irony is that by trying to make the situation less and less present itself in order to buy peace, the problem grows and resentment explodes.
A life as a couple where there was acceptance, reparation and reconciliation after infidelity:
Après une infidélité, la réparation ne se produit pas toute seule. Elle demande des outils concrets, du courage et un accompagnement, pas seulement le temps qui passe.
When a person struggles with the wound of betrayal
She feels guilty for not being able to move on. She feels broken.
We have the impression that everything depends on her. As if it were the problem of not being able to get over it. And it’s up to her to solve the wound
If this is your case, you already know how heavy it is to carry. Guilt. Shame. Despair. Confusion. And even the resentment that can come from feeling like you’re the problem.
And you already know that feeling bad about yourself does NOT help you feel like accepting the situation and being able to forgive.
It also doesn’t help if the partner who committed the infidelity feels like they don’t know what to do to fix the situation.
The partner who committed the infidelity reveals the information in dribs and drabs… Thus creating moments of repeated micro and/or macro betrayal.
The partner who has been betrayed often does not ask the most relevant and helpful questions to improve the situation. We want details about the acts and gestures taken, rather than the context, meaning and justifications that the person who was unfaithful used to jump the fence. This creates images that increase the trauma of betrayal.
There will come a time when they will no longer bear the idea of dwelling “Ad vitam æternam” (indefinitely) on the same subjects and details, without resolution.
Continuing to lack transparency doesn’t actually make the other person happy! He wants a partner who is honest and transparent… not a partner who continues to protect himself.
Working only on communication DOESN’T WORK! Some couples recognize that their injury simply requires communication on the subject. WRONG. There are gestures and acts as well as intimate activities that are necessary to heal and forgive infidelity.
Getting better at discussing the problem doesn’t make it go away! While these skills are important, they alone do nothing to bring about the repair required!
Don’t you think that learning certain communication tools, such as “communication in I” or “expressing one’s needs”, are enough to settle the betrayal and the wound? Even therapists make this mistake sometimes, simplifying the work that needs to be done.
In fact, until you DIRECTLY CONFRONT the painful truth that has come to light through this infidelity, this problem will never go away.
And after more than 15 years of supporting clients in my sex therapy practice and training health professionals on the subject, it’s as clear and simple as this:
Your emotional life and sexual intimacy requires you to move to an intimacy that is not reciprocated, but validated by yourself, for BOTH partners. You and your partner DESERVE a strong intimate connection and a couple and sex life that has become complicit again!
The chances that both of you are dissatisfied are high. Having sex out of pity or obligation is not fun for anyone. Being in love with someone you can’t trust is a mediocre experience.
The fear of the cheating person (PI) is that truth and transparency will end the relationship. When in reality she will let their partner be free of their pain and be able to begin the process of acceptance and reparation. The fear of the betrayed person (PT) is that if they don’t let go of their over-vigilance, they will find themselves blindly betrayed once again.
But when you continue to perceive that maintaining these rigid barriers offers you rather than harms you, the situation will persist. Instead, it weakens that intimacy and complicity that you want to find. It casts a dark shadow over all the other spheres that work so well.
What happens when time passes and we stop arguing about infidelity?
Or that you spend weeks, months avoiding sexuality due to these wounds of betrayal?
What happens then? The elephant in the room just gets bigger. Stifling joy, laughter and affection evaporates.
But when you LEARN and MASTER the skills to ACCEPT, REPAIR and RECONCILE, you can enjoy a couple and sex life together that seems easier and lighter! You can focus on the rest of your life, because you no longer have to waste your energy on worry, guilt, frustration, disappointment, and fear.
But you’re afraid to talk about it or tackle the problem because you don’t think there’s anything that can be done about it. You tolerate the situation for now. You think it’s not THAT bad… or that time will heal things on their own.
MOST couples in trouble live like this for years, looking good (at least from the outside). But do you really want to wait until the situation gets SO BAD ? Do you want to wait until maybe it’s too late?
Of course not! And no problem magically disappears while we pretend it’s not there, right?
It’s so easy to convince yourself that everything is going to be okay… possibly. To say, ” We’ll take care of it when the storm has subsided.” Or: ” Once I have more energy, we can focus on it ” Or: ” I don’t want to put pressure or make my partner uncomfortable.”
Or even, “Maybe if we just give him time, it will get better.”
BUT…
Are you as close and connected with your partner as you could be? What’s going on beneath the surface of your relationship? How long can your partner go on without a trusting and intimate and pleasant relationship with you?
Do you really want a life where you both have this stressful and awkward wall between you?
NO!
… that you do EVERYTHING you can to make your relationship totally solid, secure and connected…
OR that you stay in your comfort zone, but unsatisfactory and keep procrastinating, hoping that will change, or pretending that everything is fine?
Imaginez pouvoir à nouveau rire, vous taquiner et vous sentir proches, sans l'ombre de la trahison qui plane entre vous.
The program guides you step-by-step, at your own pace, at home.
The reality is that the strength of trust and the brokenness that infidelity has caused has a direct impact on the strength of your relationship! The impact of this conflict not resolved properly is like a crack in the foundation of your home!
So, now that you realize how vital your intimate connection is to your relationship, you might start to feel the slightly daunting and big task of actually improving that connection…
AVOIDING INFIDELITY-RELATED ISSUES INCREASES THE PRESSURE YOU FEEL
If you’re like most of those who have read this far, you’re starting to see the importance of a fulfilling couple and sex life and what it will do for the strength and connection of your relationship… But you probably imagine yourself before bed wondering:
“I’m still at the same point, I just need to forgive or be forgiven for my partner to be happy?!”
OR
“Is our relationship all about this infidelity?”
“Is it going to be stressful for the rest of our lives? Do I really have to think about it all the time?!
It can be so daunting and discouraging that you avoid it, looking for other ways to stay busy and distracted in your life. And I understand.
But here’s a little “Insider Secret” for you:
Do you know that the best part of ourselves is able to admit the worst parts of ourselves, because the worst part of us denies its own existence! – David Schnarch
Will this healing process be painful for both partners? Of course… but not as painful as letting this unproductive situation drag on for years to come.
So, what if you had a step-by-step method to find these obstacles? What if you had a process to find out what would make acceptance, reparation, and reconciliation possible for both of you?
Imagine if you had a way to share complicity and trust again… Sexuality and love moments once again in a peaceful way. EVEN if one of you hasn’t felt safe in a long time!
No more guilt!
No more pressure!
No more disappointment!
No more sex for fear of another infidelity!
No more need to avoid it!
My clients are always surprised when I make this statement. How can a betrayal as important as infidelity be BENEFICIAL??!!??.
Because it forces the couple to take a step back and recognize the gaps in their sexuality and relationship. Being in a relationship pushes us to recognize our limits as partners and our insecurities in sexuality and relationships.
It is possible to transform your life as a couple after infidelity. Just imagine for a moment…
… You and your partner exchange a genuine, knowing smile when an intimate scene comes up on TV (instead of that discomfort because of the elephant in the room)…
… You two can be teasing and naughty in the kitchen (without that fear that it can lead to a fight)…
… You could have the closeness and connection that results from a fulfilling sex life from NOW!
Wouldn’t that be nice?
Well, you don’t have to “imagine” it anymore. Because… it’s POSSIBLE!
An approach centered on radical integrity and finding an emotional balance for each of the partners to be able to have a deeper and more authentic intimacy.
By having a better understanding of the consequences of betrayal, you will be able to remove unnecessary emotional tension and reduce unproductive conflicts.
You will eliminate strategies that hinder the establishment of a bond of trust and repair and develop a new way of engaging in dialogue.
You will stop believing that communication is the solution and that better mind-mapping (the central concept of the program) your partner will bring you to the life of a couple and the intimacy you want.
Learn about the factors that hinder acceptance, reparation and reconciliation.
Recognize problematic dynamics in your relationship that have been detrimental to marital and sexual satisfaction
Discover the issues in the relationship that led to infidelity
Understand that your sexuality as a couple is more complex than you imagine!
This complexity leads to your difficulties, but it is also the solution to it.
Perceiving that your vulnerability is not a weakness, but a tool for relational maturity
Establish that we make love as we have been loved by our loved ones!
Learn to define yourself by your actions rather than those of your partner
Do the acts and gestures that will make amends: transparency, radical integrity, self-comfort
To achieve an intimacy that you have always wanted, but never dared to approach
Becoming more intimate after a deep wound
What if my life is very busy right now?
That’s when you might say, “We have a lot of things going on (or our kids are in the middle of baseball season or my partner is working hard to get that promotion)… Shouldn’t I focus on that first? “NO.
There will always be reasons to postpone the resolution of the problems of your relationship and sexual life. There is always something that may seem more important. You might think, “But maybe once X, Y, and Z happen, it’ll be easier.” Does this sound familiar?
… But isn’t that exactly how the elephant has invited itself into the room?
I don’t want you to live even one more day overwhelmed by guilt, worry, stress, pain, pressure, and distance from your partner. Every day that passes erodes the strength of your relationship.
… Avoiding this only makes things worse. and it’s MUCH more stressful!
If you were to attend an in-person workshop with me to learn these exact same strategies, you would pay almost $1200. Even my clients in my sex therapy practice pay over $130 per hour to get the same information.
When you sign up for Rebuilding After Infidelity, you get over a decade of sex therapy experience with hundreds of couples!
Rebuilding after infidelity is normally priced at $730. However, because you’re reading this, I’ve decided to reduce over 50% of the price for the webinar, which is only $350 (or 3 installments of $159)!
You answered “yes” to one or more of these questions: Rebuilding yourself after infidelity could help you!
Think about it! Every big change or transformation you’ve experienced has ALWAYS started with a DECISION. Have you ever considered that one of the main reasons your relationship and sexuality is difficult is that you haven’t been able to make a decision and back that decision with committed action?
I want to give you the opportunity to CHOOSE ! Choose whether to fix this issue or not. Choose to let more time pass – with more resentment for you AND your partner – or…
… Choose to tackle this directly as an investment in your well-being and the strength of your relationship!
But CHOOSE quickly!
This means that there has never been a better time than NOW to start!
But if you put it off, what will change? Don’t wait! You can get started today!
Participate in the program now and create the fun and easy couple and sex life your relationship deserves!
He has no time limit to complete it. However, it is important to create an incentive to invest in the program and not to forget it. It can sometimes be difficult to take the time and give the necessary importance to our sexuality and our life as a couple. To fully benefit from the program, you must take your time to complete it, but also have assiduity to experience the changes.
It is not necessary for your partner to listen to it with you. This program equips you to work on yourself in the relationship and your sexuality. The process can be more rewarding when your partner collaborates with you on the exchange of discussions and the reflections provided. It is possible to do the process of acceptance on your own and choose reconciliation. However, without the help of the partner, a repair with them is not possible. However, the program focuses on the individual power that a person can have over the relationship. When one partner changes the dynamic and works on the paradigms, the couple moves, whether the other partner wants to work on themselves or not. It is for this reason that the acceptance phase is at the heart of the program, because you can repair yourself after infidelity, but not repair the relationship without the partner’s participation. The program helps you become collaborative and encourage others to be as well.
You will receive an email with information on how to access the videos and have access to the documentation for the program.
Couples therapy will thoroughly assess your personal issues and offer you personalized follow-up and privileged support. However, therapy requires a lot of time, money, and emotional resources. Many of the activities, reflections and concepts are addressed in therapy in the program, but they are available at a lower cost than through a follow-up directly with Francois Renaud, sexologist and psychotherapist. This program is offered to people who want to go at their own pace and who want a process with more autonomy. It can also be a springboard to couples therapy later on where several concepts and explorations will have already been started.
Yes, this program can accelerate the momentum of your therapy and save time on concepts and reflections that will be addressed in therapy. It also allows you to increase your autonomy in your personal journey and to work more on yourself between sessions.
I have been in private practice since 2011 and I appear regularly in the media, on radio and television. My humorous style makes it easier to lighten subjects around sexuality that are often taboo and difficult to raise. My approach tackles the underlying issues in relationships, and I do not shy away from talking about sexuality in detail. That makes it possible to integrate, at a deep level, the concepts and the changes your relationship and your sexual life as a couple need. Using the mind-mapping concept helps redefine the couple dynamics that kill love and your satisfaction as a couple. Mind-mapping also deepens your intimacy and the depth of your relationship and your sex life.
My approach puts my clients’ integrity first and brings out the best in them. I help put an end to the behaviours that create conflict in couples’ sexuality. I do not take four roads to get straight to the point, which can be confronting and therefore makes it possible to get to the heart of the issues in your relationship.
