Designing and delivering sex education programs by a sexologist

Sex education programs share knowledge from sexology in order to educate people about the many aspects of sexuality. The format, length and activities can vary depending on the audience and the theme chosen. They can include discussions, debates, formal or informal presentations, role plays and a range of activities to help new knowledge sink in.

Themes for sex education

Our team covers every theme in the sex education program set out by the Quebec Ministry of Education.

Students must receive between 5 and 15 hours of sex education per year, which allows them:

  • to understand sexuality better;
  • to know themselves better;
  • to think about issues such as messages about sexuality in the public space, sexual stereotypes and the use of social media;
  • to be less vulnerable to certain problems such as:
  • sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs);
  • discrimination based on sexual and gender diversity;
  • sexual assault;
  • unplanned pregnancies;
  • to develop attitudes and skills that will serve them now and in the future (respect for diversity, self-knowledge and assertiveness, conflict resolution).

The themes covered are:
