Psychotherapy Offered by Master’s-Level Clinical Interns

We aim to make our clinic’s services more accessible to individuals and couples with low income or clients who wish to support the training of our sexologists psychotherapists. These internships not only allow our psychotherapy interns to acquire and refine their sexology skills, but also help advance research at the Department of Sexology at UQAM.

Benefits of Psychotherapy with an Intern

Low-Cost Fees – $80 per 50-minute session, a savings of $35
- That’s $140 saved per month
- A potential savings of $1,050 over a 30-session therapy
Interns are supervised by professionals with over 10 years of experience
Interns already have practical field experience, including:
- Bachelor-level internships
- Working as sexologists before or during their Master’s studies.
Individual supervision with 2 experienced sexologist psychotherapist.
Group supervision provided by a university professor
Group supervision by François Renaud, sexologist and psychotherapist of the clinic (15 years experience)
Clinical intervision with other members of the clinic’s team
Contribution to the field of sexology and the training of future sexologist-psychotherapists

- Although our interns have rigorous training from their Bachelor’s in Sexology, they are still in training for psychotherapist permit, and clients benefit from this reduced rate
Sessions are recorded and filmed, offering you a form of financial compensation

- These recordings are used exclusively to improve the intern’s skills and quality of care
- They allow supervisors to ensure the quality of the service and to provide feedback on the intern’s interventions
